Had a very nice time at Trostel’s Greenbriar last night. We were greeted by this sign:

Most wines on the menu were $20, so come on Wednesday if you’d rather pay $10.
It was Tuesday, so we only utilized the second special: Date Night Dinner for Two. I’m kind of indecisive so I don’t mind a limited menu and encouraging dessert is always a good thing.

Featured Wine: Sangria. I asked the waitress how it was and she said she hadn’t tried it, but “some lady across the room was pounding them so they must be good.” I agreed.

1st course: Adobe Shrimp with Mango, Salsa, & Avocado Cream
The word “avocado” brings me in and then lets me down, because avocado cream is apparently nothing like a real avocado. But decent shrimp with an almost barbecue flair.

My date ordered the best part of our meal. Boursin Cheese Wild Mushrooms on Crostini. Melt in your mouth cheesy. Thankfully he didn’t mind sharing with me. :)

(The 1st course also had a duck option.)
2nd course was choice of soup or salad. We both choose salad with Creamy Parmesan dressing.

Bread: Foccicia and Potato

3rd Course: Char Grilled Flat Iron Steak with Mashed Potatoes, Asparagus, & Brandy Glaze. Requested medium rare and cooked perfectly. “AMAZING and the sauce was dang good too.”

I went with the Asiago Encrusted Tilapia with Garlic Herb Mashed Potatoes and Lemon Caper Beurre Blanc Sauce. It was suppose to come with Roasted Peppers, but I got asparagus too. The Tilapia was superb.

3rd course also offered the choice of Stuffed Chicken Breast.
4th Course we choose the Bread Pudding (over the Chocolate Tart) with Bananas, Strawberries, Vanilla Ice Cream, Caramel Rum Sauce. Wonderful.

The restaurant has an upscale feel and the service was great. Nice date place and there’s also a patio for you to enjoy this heat.
Giving it an 8 out 10.
I don’t know if I’ve ever laughed as much as I did during this meal. We were almost causing a scene. And it all started with someone’s (ok my) obsession with Teen Wolf.
