I heard 801 Chophouse was kind of a big deal. Many reviews about how people go for more than the food… The service? Our waitress was very knowledgeable. The atmosphere? High back booths, many paintings of cows (who might be judging you for eating so much meat. just saying). The location? Downtown Des Moines. Skywalk accessible.
They offer a variety of U.S.D.A meat. Not sure which one to order? Get a lesson on the differences between a Prime Rib and a New York Strip.

Apologies if you did not want to see a photo of raw meat, here’s some bread instead! Warm bread delivered twice to our table, as our waitress commented, “a taste sensation!”

Who doesn’t order steak in a steak house? Hey now, they also boost their fresh sea food, so it’s cool.

Lobster and Shrimp Linguine. The cherry tomatoes, the lobster, and the sauce made for a tasty meal.

We split the linguine and this 16 oz New York Strip. Cooked Medium Well, it was definitely our favorite part of the meal. I recommend adding the cognac butter, portobella mushroom ragout. yum!

We also enjoyed the Maytag Blue Cheese Potatoes. so cheesy.

For $80 (well $40 thanks to Groupon) we had plenty of leftovers.
