Top 100 Des Moines Restaurants
#29 Gino’s

Girl’s night started in West Glen at Gino’s. The atmosphere is great. This photo doesn’t do it justice, but the place is full of red lit booths. And amazing live acoustic music Thursday through Saturday. Anyone that can sing a rock ballad from the 90s, is a friend of mine.

We may have had a couple bottles of wine before dinner so we stuck with water at the restaurant.

Most entrées come with salads.

and bread.

The Penne Bolognese Pasta: tossed with ground beef, veggies in a red wine marina sauce. Decent.

Italian Baked Tilapia: served with a baked potato and veggies. To quote my friend, “You can’t f*** up a baked potato.” ok ok. good thing we didn’t order more wine ;)

I KNOW what you’re going to say, never order a burger at an Italian restaurant, but I really wanted a burger. So I went with the Sirloin Burger w/ Cheese…and now I agree with you.

I’m not a huge ketchup kind of girl, but I had to cover this thing in it to get it down.

The best thing about the night was getting all are food for a prepaid $25. (I’m kind of addicted to livingsocial and groupon, if you haven’t noticed.)

If you go, I’d try something else, like the lemoncello or dessert.

Going with a 5 out of 10.
